Love Is Blind’s Stacy Snyder Comes Out as Queer

Stacy Synder is opening up about her sexuality.
The Love Is Blind season five contestant gave fans a major life update on Aug. 28, coming out as queer in a sweet new video.
Stacy, who got engaged to Izzy Zapata on the Netflix dating show only to call things off at the altar, posted a video to Instagram with the caption “Surprise!” and a rainbow emoji.
In the clip, the reality star is sitting at a table drinking a glass of wine while “Guess” by Charli XCX featuring Billie Eilish plays.
Speculation about Stacy’s status runs down the screen in text within the video, including: “She’s got a boyfriend; She’s single; She’s irrelevant.”
As the words “She’s happy” come on the screen, a woman with long wavy hair comes into the frame and gives the 35-year-old a big kiss, as the Netflix star grins.
Of course, Stacy got plenty of love in the comments section from her pod squad and past seasons.
Nancy Rodriguez from season three commented, “Nothing but the best for my gal!” Added season six star Chelsea Blackwell, “You go girl!!!!!”
And season three contestant Zanab Jaffrey commented, “Girlllllll we need a catchup! Happy to see you happy.”
Stacy later told fans on her Instagram Stories she was surprised by the positive response the post garnered.
“I’m gonna be honest, I was scared s--tless to post that post today, and I’m literally speechless,” she admitted. “I was not expecting that. I was actually fully expecting hate, a lot of it. I always get a lot of hate, and I’m like, is it the algorithm? Is it just like hate Stacy? But anyways, it was just really nice, a frickin’ nice change. So thank you. I love y’all.”
Though Love Is Blind is all about finding love sight unseen, only one contestant in the show’s six seasons has been open on camera about their sexuality. Season one contestant Carlton Morton proposed to Diamond Jack on the show, only to reveal to her after they got engaged that he is bisexual. The revelation ultimately led to the end of their romance.
The show’s creator Chris Coelen previously addressed fan interest in an LGBTQ+ season of the hit show, saying that the concept would have logistical problems.
“We’re never going to make everybody happy. People are like, ‘Why don’t you do a queer version of Love Is Blind?’ Sure, I’d love to. But you have to think about the logistics of a show,” Chris told The Hollywood Reporter in July 2023. “You don’t want it to be knee-jerk. In the straight version of Love Is Blind, you’ve got all the men here and all the women there. Now imagine it was an entirely queer cast. You wouldn’t produce it the same way. You couldn’t. Everyone would need to be isolated. It would be a completely different experience.”
