Jana Duggar has married her prince charming.
And while the 19 Kids and Counting alum only got engaged to her future husband Stephen Wissmann in June ahead of their Aug. 15 wedding, the couple have a long history together.
"[The Wissmann's] would travel and sing,” Jana told People of her future in-laws. “I remember them coming to our home, probably 13 or so years ago and they ended up getting snowed-in here, which hardly ever happens in Arkansas.”
Noting that at the time Stephen wasn’t “at all on my radar” due to their age difference—she is 34 and he is 31—Jana said it wasn’t until later that she reconnected with the Nebraska native.
The future spouses briefly dated a few years go, and though they broke things off, they kept in touch, and as Jana put it, “talked to each other on and off over the years.”
Who Is Stephen Wissmann’s Family?
While he’s not from a family of 19, Stephen is one of 13 siblings, and coincidentally, Jana’s brother Jeremiah Duggar ended up marrying Stephen’s sister, Hannah. The pair eventually reconnected in early 2024, and Jana noted how her future husband was willing to accept the chaos that came with marrying into the Duggar family.
"I had been a slower mover on it, but just over time, his character, his coming back, still loving me no matter what," the daughter of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar said. "I know we have a big crazy family and still kind of putting up with a lot of things. I'm like, my goodness, there are not too many people that do that. He must really, genuinely care about me."
Their big families contributed to the 500 wedding guests at the couple’s Aug. 15 wedding in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
"Coming from two bigger families, we love to be able to get together and celebrate moments like these,” Jana said. "And so to have all of them there, it just means a lot."
What Does Stephen Wissmann Do for a Living?
Stephen is the owner for Wissmann Enterprises, Inc., which provides commercial roof coatings, industrial blasting and painting, and excavation and trenching projects. He is also a private pilot.
What Are Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann’s Plans for After Their Wedding?
Now that they are man and wife, Jana intends to move to her husband’s home state of Nebraska where he works in his irrigation system install business as well as sandblasting and painting.
"It's great,” she said. “We've been working, he has a little house we bought that we've been fixing up and getting pulled together, and so that's been fun.”
