When it comes to her latest achievement, Caitlin Clark is thanking Connor McCaffery for the assist.
After the Indiana Fever player was awarded the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year award, she reflected on her first professional season with a sweet nod to her boyfriend.
“Throwback to draft day,” Caitlin—who started dating Connor in April 2023—wrote in an Oct. 3 Instagram Story alongside a photo of the couple hugging. “I’m lucky.”
For his part, Connor reshared his girlfriend’s sweet message, and also added another post celebrating Caitlin’s milestone to his own Instagram Story.
Caitlin’s first season in the WNBA has been a slam dunk—with an average of 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists per game. And the judges panel knew it—with the 22-year-old receiving 66 of the 67 first place votes from the panels of writers and broadcasters who decided on the achievement (Chicago Sky player Angel Reese received one first place nod), per NBC News.
But despite her own success, Caitlin has continued to hype up Connor on his own achievements throughout her rookie season.
In fact, after the 26-year-old—who is son to former Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery—was announced as a new assistant coach for Butler University, Caitlin made her excitement known, posting the news to her Instagram, adding, “Yayy!! So happy for you.”
And earlier this year, Caitlin showed even more affection for her boyfriend of one year in a heartfelt birthday post.
“Thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life,” she wrote in a July Instagram post. “May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me ;).”
Meanwhile, the former Iowa basketball player has also made a point to support the 22-year-old, sharing a sincere note to social media for the couple’s first anniversary.
“Doing life w u has been easy, and you never cease to amaze me,” Connor wrote in his message alongside photos of the pair. “You never cease to amaze me.. can’t wait to watch u live out ur dreams in person. Love you.”
Keep reading for all of the couple’s sweetest moments.
WNBA's Caitlin Clark went public with Connor McCaffery, a team assistant for the Indiana Pacers and fellow University of Iowa alum, in August 2023.
She captioned a photo of the pair snuggling on a boat, "Best end to summer."
Connor penned a sweet tribute in honor of Caitlin's golden birthday on Jan. 22, 2024.
"Wish I was there to celebrate with you - you deserve the best day," he captioned photos of the duo on Instagram. "With all that you’ve already accomplished, there is so much more in store for you and your special self. I admire you in every way and I love you."
Teasing Connor for "acting" like a Taylor Swift fan, Caitlin replied in the comments section of his birthday tribute, "I will let this slide hehe."
Connor was in the stands during Caitlin's record-breaking game against the Michigan Wolverines in February 2024.
After Caitlin became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball history, Conor wrote on his Instagram Story that he was "so proud.”
Referencing the basketballer's jersey number, he added, "Love you 22."
Connor also had nothing but love for Caitlin after her game against the LSU Tigers in April 2024, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), "She was special tonight."
